Introduction
Along with advancement of motor technology that enables high-performance and size reduction of a motor, the electromagnetic field simulation based on Finite Element Method (FEM) has become the indispensable motor development tool.
Similarly, the control simulation tools, including MATLAB/Simulink, PSpice, and PSIM, are used proactively in the development of motor control circuits, as PWM and other vector controls are now commonly used for the circuits.
Precise and detailed simulation of the motor behavior is essential for the development of advanced motors, and such simulations can hardly be available without linking the electromagnetic field simulation and the control + circuit simulation.
JMAG-RT
JMAG-RT is a group of JMAG features that facilitates development of the motor drive simulation system.
Using the FEM model, JMAG-RT generates a behavior model that can be applied to the control simulation.
Torque characteristics from the electromagnetic field simulation and losses of each circuit element from the control simulation can be derived simultaneously.
A motor and a drive system can be designed concurrently by sharing a single motor model among motor designers, circuit designers and control designers.
